She scrubbed up well!

This stunning bungalow in Ngatea was built in the 1920s and I'm told it was one of the very first grand villas in the area It is still very authentic and retains all of its original character.

It was once home to the mayor - he clearly had good taste.

The main lounge has a beautiful and traditional bay window - which was a joy to see brought back to prime condition - and an amazing high ceiling adorned with hardwood beams.

The near century-old wooden building unsurprisingly needed quite a few replacement parts - including the virtual rebuilding all of the old awnings - and some repairs to the weatherboards but, considering its age, it scrubbed up wonderfully well. We'll let the 'before and after' pics do the talking now.

These pictures show the poor condition of the paint before we brought this bungalow back to life.

The owners have told us that they "couldn't stop smiling" when they checked out the results of the teams' efforts.

Project testimonial

"Thank you for restoring our 1920s villa to its former glory. Great team. Passionate about restoring villas. Best in NZ. Can't recommend them enough." Gary Martinsen Ngatea * * * * *
